Low Reflective Touch Screen

RUGGEDBOOK Sunlight Solution (RSS) provides a low reflective solution on touch screen. Conventional resistive touch screen has light reflection rate of around 16% to 22%, RSS touch screen light reflection rate is only around 1.5%.

Conventional LCD panels typically produce brightness of 200-300 nits, and under direct sunlight or bright ambient lighting, the visibility of the LCD displayed image become worse. And should a resistive touch screen be applied to the LCD panel, visibility and readability deteriorate. This is due to the high reflective rate of a resistive touch screen, causing poor clarity to the LCD display. There are many enhanced LCD´s coming out in the market. These LCD´s are enhanced by adding prism films onto the LCD surface or adding back light to improve clarity and readability to its displayed image for purposes of outdoor application products.

RSS touch screen is designed and developed for applications used outdoor or under high ambient lighting. Our core design is to reduce the reflective rate and enhance the light transmission rate of the touch screen, overcoming the problem the user faces, which is not being able to see the LCD display clearly in outdoor environment.

Enhanced technologies: Polarizer Film, Retarder Film and AR Film

Polarizer Film and Retarder Film: The Circular touch screen uses a linear polarizer to convert incoming light to a specific direction, and the first layer of retarder film further converts the light to a circular clockwise polarity. When reflected, the light is converted to a counterclockwise path and the reflective light is blocked by the polarizer film from exiting. Thus reflection is reduced considerably, to less than 2.5%.

AR Film: New anti-reflective film solutions provide better image quality, vivid color and cost advantages for liquid crystal displays.

Advantages:
RSS low reflective sunlight-readable touch screen provides improved:

  • Anti-reflection: Using polarizer and retarder film combine to reduce reflection
  • UV resistance: RSS low reflective touch screen retains surface hardness beyond conventional solutions in high UV environments
  • Visibility: addition of polarizer film to the touch screen dramatically improves image clarity and contrast ratio

Brightness Enhanced Touch Screen
In addition, we have increased the brightness of on our touch panel by using WSVGA LED backlight. So the visibility of the LCD displayed image become better. Our touch panel sports the new LED backlit display with anti-glare coating, which allows it to be viewed in various environments both indoors and outdoors. Conventional LCD panels are generally in the rage of 250~1000 NITs of brightness but the LED backlight panel can reach the range of 1.7 times or above.

RSS supports low reflective and brightness enhanced touch screen technology so you can watch the screen under sunlight or bright ambient lighting clearly.
